Project Overview:
After over a decade of worshipping in schools, Mill City Church (Minneapolis, Minnesota) adopted Elim Church—including its historic, 50,000+ square-foot building in Northeast Minneapolis. Flourish partnered with Mill City in strategically planning how to best inhabit this new space.
Project Details:
Upon inheriting such a large building, Mill City invited Flourish to assist them with several critical components:
- Provide feasibility assessments of various spaces for potential shared use, as well as other space use considerations
- Refresh its third floor atrium space (pictured above), transforming it from a kids ministry space into a warm, inviting space for co-working, conversations, and more
- Connect them with potential tenants, several of whom now inhabit their space
- Expedite their kitchen project—working with community stakeholders to activate the commercial kitchen for food entrepreneurs
- Provide support for how to best structure leases and shared use agreements with partners, as well as other systems and policies to set them up for success in sharing their new space
In Their Words:
“We reached out to Flourish to help us not only envision the possibilities of how this space might become one of the greatest missional tools at our disposal, but also how we might inhabit such a large building in a sustainable way. Flourish’s voice in our discernment process was incredibly helpful, serving as a much-needed sounding board for us in that critical season and providing assessments of feasibility and other space use considerations… The Flourish team has felt like a true partner in this process—a teammate in seeing this beautiful space leveraged in all the best ways for the sake of our neighbors in Northeast.”
